Employee Spotlight: Amanda Cannon

14 October 2025

At Staff Boom, we are committed to recognizing and valuing the exceptional contributions of our team members. Our Quarterly Employee Spotlight series is dedicated to highlighting outstanding talent and celebrating their achievements. This quarter, we are pleased to focus on Amanda Cannon and her remarkable accomplishments. Please join us in congratulating her!

Before joining Staff Boom in 2022, Amanda built a strong background in banking, accounting, and the legal field, later transitioning into the insurance industry. In her role at a local insurance agency, she supported the service team across account management, billing, claims, and customer service. Shortly after, she earned her insurance license to better serve her community. Amanda’s diverse experience across finance, law, and insurance allows her to bring a well-rounded perspective to her role as an Accountant at Staff Boom.

We asked Amanda’s manager for feedback on her performance, and the praise was echoed throughout the organization. Michael Haroutunian, Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis, shared this:

“Amanda’s strong work ethic and collaborative approach have made a big difference for our accounting team. She’s someone we can count on to deliver quality work while also supporting her colleagues and helping the department succeed. She brings both professionalism and a positive attitude to every task, and her contributions have strengthened the team as a whole.

To learn more about Amanda, we asked her a few questions about herself and her experience in the outsourcing industry.

Q: What do you love most about your job?

A: I’ve always loved accounting and working with numbers. Even when things don’t add up right away, I enjoy the challenge because it feels like solving a puzzle and putting it back together. Beyond the work itself, I really enjoy working alongside everyone at Staff Boom, it’s such a great team.

Q: Tell us something about your professional development journey.

A: I worked in banking for nearly 10 years and built great connections that eventually led me into an accounting role—a job I truly loved. After taking some time off to be at home with my kids, I reentered the workforce with an insurance agency, which ultimately brought me back into accounting with Staff Boom. In a way, it feels like all my different worlds have come together in my position here.

Q: Describe some of the challenges you have faced at this company. How did you overcome them?

A: I’ve been fortunate not to encounter any major obstacles here, thanks to such a strong team. One challenge has been adapting to the frequent changes during invoice cycles. The little details can really keep you on your toes. Since even small oversights can snowball, I’ve learned to stay highly organized and double-check everything so nothing slips through the cracks.

Q: What would your perfect weekend look like?

A: I take so much pride in my kids and love when our weekends are filled with their sports activities. Between the three of them, we’re either at the tennis courts, baseball field, soccer field, or watching our middle daughter ride her horse in a rodeo. We’re also lucky enough to live on a lake, so a perfect weekend is when we get all the games done in the morning and finish the day out on the boat.

Q: What’s the best trip you’ve ever been on and why?

A: The best trip I’ve taken was to Maui with my husband in 2021. It was one of those rare trips where everything went perfectly, the flights, the food, the culture, the beaches. It all exceeded our expectations. I always say if I could relive any trip, it would be that one. Maui truly has my heart.

Q: If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?

A: I’d go anywhere tropical, but my dream destination is definitely Turks and Caicos.

Q: What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

A: Over the years, I’ve worked in accounting, banking, and business tax and estate planning. When I’m not working, I love spending time on the lake at home or traveling to Lake Havasu for a weekend trip- we love boating, wakeboarding, and I personally enjoy the people-watching. I also love cooking and soaking up time with my husband, my three kids, and our English Mastiff, Charlie.

Congratulations Amanda for your dedication and impact on the company’s success. Your efforts are deeply valued, and we look forward to seeing all that you will achieve in the future!
