Before joining Staff Boom , Alejandra began her career in the insurance industry in 2015 as a customer service representative, where her dedication and hard work led to her promotion to office manager at an insurance agency. She joined Staff Boom as an Operations Associate and later transitioned to her current role as an Onboarding Specialist. Drawing on her solid background in customer service, Alejandra further refined her problem-solving abilities while working as a reservation agent for a property management company.
With experience in smaller agencies, Alejandra Varela has gained valuable insights that enhance her ability to navigate outsourcing and build strong cross-cultural teams. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with loved ones, exploring new activities, and prioritizing a balanced lifestyle that supports her growth. Alejandra also loves to travel, especially to sunny, beachy destinations, with the Philippines now on her bucket list.

To learn more about Alejandra, we asked her a few questions about herself and her experience in the outsourcing industry.
Q: What do you love most about your job?
A: The best part of the job is the people. I enjoy learning about new cultures from our reps in the Philippines and Peru. I also appreciate the supportive culture here in the office. It’s reassuring to know I can approach anyone with my questions.
Q: Tell us something about your professional development journey?
A: I began my career in insurance at a small agency while I was in college. Although I didn’t expect to return to the industry, life had other plans, and I’m glad it did. Coming back to insurance has given me a fresh perspective, and now I truly enjoy the work I do and the opportunities it brings.
Q: Describe some of the challenges you have faced at this company. How did you overcome them?
A: Letting go would definitely be the hardest part. I like to stay very involved with all of my teams. However, there comes a point where you have to trust your team to handle things on their own. It’s a challenge, but it’s necessary for growth.
Q: What techniques help you stay organized and productive?
A: I begin my day by listing everything I need to accomplish. Having it written down helps me visualize what needs to be done. It gives me a clear sense of direction for the day. This method helps me stay organized and focused.
Q: Tell us something about you that most people don’t know.
A: I love to travel, and it’s something I truly enjoy. This year, I plan to use all my PTO. It’s a great opportunity to explore unfamiliar places. I’m excited to make the most of my time off and experience new destinations.
Q: If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?
A: Anywhere with a beach and warm weather is my ideal destination. I’m always up for a relaxing getaway in the sun. The Philippines is now on my bucket list. I’m excited to explore it when the opportunity arises.
