Employee Spotlight: Ashley Alger

That’s why we’re excited to bring you our Quarterly Employee Spotlight series, where we highlight the incredible talents within our team and share their success stories. This quarter, we’re delighted to turn the spotlight on Ashley Alger and all she has achieved. Join us in congratulating her!

As an onboarding specialist at Staff Boom, Ashley plays a crucial role in ensuring our clients have a positive first impression of our company and processes. She acts as the bridge between sales and operations, working closely with clients as they begin their partnership with Staff Boom. Her main responsibility is to spend six weeks with each client, focusing on setting up the Philippines team for success to work with US Operations, so that they can provide long-term account management, and helping them achieve their goals.

During the six-week timeline, Ashley dedicates four weeks to working directly with the client, focusing on training and development to identify tasks that can be streamlined and made easier for them. The remaining two weeks are spent on team selection and collaborating with IT to ensure the smooth setup of computers and necessary infrastructure.

To ensure a seamless transition, Ashley thoroughly reviews training videos and makes any necessary edits to implement all the essential elements the team needs to go live. Additionally, she closely collaborates with the sales team to gather insights about new clients. This way, when clients are handed over to Ashley, they feel like they’re seamlessly continuing their journey rather than starting from scratch.

Ashley’s role is instrumental in providing our clients with a smooth onboarding experience, setting the stage for a successful partnership with Staff Boom.

Prior to joining Staff Boom, Ashley served as the head horse trainer for the Disneyland Resort from 2015 to 2021. During her tenure, she held roles such as head of training and development material, horse safety, overseeing special events and parades featuring Disneyland horses, and Disneyland Ambassador Trainee. Following her experience at Disneyland, she joined the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, where she contributed to client relations material development and assisted in shaping their training program for working leads.

During Ashley’s free time, you’ll often find her indulging in musicals, having a blast dancing with friends, sipping on a Starbucks coffee, and enjoying the company of animals. Some of her absolute favorite things include glitter, Taylor Swift’s music, cats, horses, and Beluga Whales.

Shay Valencia, Director of US Operations and Ashley’s direct supervisor had this to share when asked about Ashley, “Ashley is an incredible asset to Staff Boom! She is constantly taking the initiative to take on new challenges with a positive attitude and disposition. This initiative has led to her becoming Staff Boom’s first Onboarding Specialist. During her tenure in this position, she has shown an extraordinary amount of adaptability and growth professionally which has been invaluable to our company and the first impression our clients have with our Operations team. She is paving the way for strong lasting partnerships with all our valued clients. I look forward to continuing to work alongside her and seeing her development with Staff Boom.”

To get to know more about Ashley, we asked her some questions about herself and her time in the outsourcing industry:

Q: Tell us about your start in Onboarding and the Outsourcing Industry?

A: I started at Staff Boom in March 2022 as a US Operations Associate, and I became an Onboarding Specialist with Staff Boom in December 2022. It has been a privilege to develop the onboarding department and help support Staff Boom’s future.

Q: What do you like most about the work we do here?

A: What I enjoy about Staff Boom is the culture we have, especially in the office. I work with such a helpful and supportive team. There isn’t one person at Staff Boom that isn’t willing to lend a hand and help when you need it.

Q: What methods do you use to stay organized?

A: My favorite organizational hack I use for myself is color-coordinating everything. It may not work for everyone, but it works well for me.

Q: What is your career goal?

A: My career goal is to continue to grow my skill set and better myself. I enjoy being mentally challenged and consistently striving for improvement. I hope to find myself in the C-Suite of a company one day.

Q: If you could sit down with your younger self, what is one piece of advice you would share?

A: One piece of advice I would share with my younger self is to never underestimate yourself and never count yourself out. It’s easy to assume you may not be the right fit for an opportunity, but you will never know if you don’t try. Or as Elle Woods said, “You hold more cards than you think you do.”

Q: What’s something you do outside of work that would surprise your co-workers?

A: Outside of work you can also find me managing a 35-horse barn. Or working at a vet’s office. Many people know that I love horses and animals. But not everyone knows that I still find ways to work with them in my free time.

Q: Describe an experience that has had a lasting impact on you?

A: An experience that has had a lasting impact on my life is training to be the Disneyland Ambassador. Though Covid happened and changed the trajectory of my career. I use the skills I learned from that role every day at work and in my personal life.

Angela Valencia

Chief Operating Officer

Angela Valencia is Chief Operating Officer at Staff Boom. Angela brings with her over 10 years of insurance and operations experience, successfully building underwriting teams and implementing procedural improvements. Before joining Staff Boom, Angela served as Director of Training and Organizational Development, where she led the underwriting and training teams in the building and launch of an industry-leading agency management system for the insurance industry. Angela has been instrumental in the rapid growth and expansion of Staff Boom, overseeing all aspects of operations domestically and internationally, as well as the onboarding of new clients and solidifying existing client relationships.

Angela holds a Bachelor’s degree in history and a Master’s degree in Education, which have been pivotal in her roles of training, development and process improvement. She is a proud mother of five; one boy, two girls and a pair of identical twin girls. Her kids keep her busy, but they are the biggest driving force behind her, at the end of the day her title as mom is her proudest accomplishment.
